Would you like to lead a team of Business Development Managers? Do you love shaping and delivering Business Development strategies, which is focused on driving growth by bringing in new customers?

Then you will enjoy managing this team! As a team, you’ll champion the brand across the medical, dental, and education sectors, building strong relationships with key partners and opening doors for financial education opportunities.

This is a team that is doing really well, and you will come in and look after them, whilst their long-term manager goes on maternity leave for a year. At the end of the contract there may well be other roles fulltime or contract that you would like in this company – as this is a company that is growing!

Most importantly you will thrive in managing this team of Business Development Managers; this is not a role where you need to be DipFA qualified, but you do need to have a good understanding of supporting BDMs.

Your Role:

  • Leading the creation and execution of a business development strategy to drive new customer growth
  • Securing engagement from senior stakeholders and translating strategy into clear, measurable action plans
  • Building strategic relationships across the Medical, Dental and Education sectors, including formal partnership agreements that open new routes to market
  • Inspiring and leading a high-performing team, creating a culture of ambition, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Providing clear oversight of existing partnerships, ensuring strong governance, effective delivery and ongoing optimisation
  • Representing business development at senior forums, including profession boards and internal trading committees
  • Taking responsibility for risk management, ensuring the team operates within Group compliance and governance frameworks
  • Playing a key role within the Group Marketing leadership team, influencing resourcing, planning, risk and budgeting decisions
  • Whist this is a role that involves some travel for the occasional support of BDMs at events, you will also visit Birmingham head office once or twice a month to work with business and update the other stakeholders

For this role you will need to have: 

  • Proven experience of developing a business development strategy with strong stakeholder buy-in
  • Exceptional networking skills with the ability to operate and influence effectively at all levels and to build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • The ability to create a customer focused culture, by leading and motivating employees to work efficiently and collaboratively for the needs and goals of the team and business
  • Proactive commercial acumen with proven ability to identify opportunities – someone who is highly results focused
  • Strong decision making and prioritisation skills, with an analytical mind – do you thrive on solving problems
  • Excellent clear and concise communication skills both in terms of written presentation and verbal
