Lead, develop and inspire a proactive team of IFAs

Location: Chester

Basic: £80,000

Additional benefits:

Salary up to £80,000 basic, with bonus, benefits, car allowance and hybrid working

This is a wealth management leadership role for someone who believes that great financial advice starts with great Financial Advisers, and that culture, care, and client outcomes matter just as much as performance metrics.

This highly respected, national independent wealth management business is looking to appoint a Commercial Development Manager to lead, develop and inspire a proactive team of IFAs. This role is about managing a team of IFAs, delivering holistic financial planning to clients and putting the client’s needs front and centre – not just as a principle, but as a lived, everyday standard.

If you are an inspired manager, you will know that gaining the best out of your team is about stewardship of your people, standards, trust, and building something sustainable, commercially strong, ethically grounded, and client-led.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the performance, development and wellbeing of a geographically dispersed team of Independent Financial Advisers (IFA), creating an environment where people are supported, standards are high, and clients receive consistently excellent outcomes.

By blending leadership, commercial growth, governance and culture, success is measured in trust, retention, reputation and long-term relationships.

Your focus will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a national team of IFAs to deliver high-quality, holistic financial planning
  • Embedding a client-first culture that places trust, outcomes and long-term relationships above short-term gain
  • Driving sustainable organic growth through strong client engagement, adviser retention and high professional standards
  • Ensuring advice quality, regulatory alignment and Consumer Duty principles are lived, not just documented
  • Using insight, data and feedback to improve performance, client experience and service delivery
  • Supporting adviser development, capability building and long-term retention
  • Playing a key role in shaping commercial strategy, growth plans and future leadership structure
  • Creating a culture of accountability, professionalism, care and consistency

The Person

This role would suit a leader who is comfortable balancing commercial responsibility with human leadership, someone who understands that performance follows trust, culture and clarity.

You are likely to bring:

  • A proven track record of building, leading and sustaining high-performing advisory teams
  • Strong regulatory understanding and a natural commitment to client protection and good outcomes
  • Commercial intelligence combined with emotional intelligence
  • Confidence working with performance data, KPIs and business metrics
  • Qualified to a minimum OCA Level 4 Diploma standard
  • Experience in sales leadership or adviser performance management
  • A calm, credible leadership style with the ability to influence, inspire and support, both individuals and teams
  • A values-led mindset – ethical, client-focused, fair and people-centred

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to shape a business area, not just manage one. You will influence culture, standards and growth – not just results. You will lead people, and build something meaningful, sustainable and client-led.

You will be joining one of the UK’s leading independent financial advisory and wealth management firms – a business that invests in its people, supports development, values wellbeing, and understands that long-term success is built through relationships, not pressure.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary and annual bonus
  • Hybrid working model
  • Flexible holiday and benefits structure
  • Pension and protection benefits
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Structured professional development
  • Long-term career progression opportunities
  • A culture that values people, ethics, quality and sustainability

If you’re an experienced leader who cares about standards, culture, outcomes and most of all people, and you want to build something that lasts, this is a role worth exploring.

At Truestar Talent, we don’t just match skills to roles, we align values, purpose and long-term fit. This appointment is about far more than management. It’s about leadership with integrity, clarity and impact.
